Reasons for why A County Fair Is Worth Visiting

A county fair is a public event which exhibits things that are mostly related to agriculture and animal husbandry. The local people gather at the fair, and a variety of entertainment and commercial activities are held at the county fair. It is a great way to encourage people to learn more about agriculture and livestock entertainingly. The county fair is also a great way to showcase the culture and talents of the people. These county fairs usually take place in the late spring or during the summer or early fall.

County Fairs

  • Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.
  • Prince William County Fair.
  • Arlington County Fair.

Howard County Fair:

The Howard County Fair was founded in the year 1946, and the main aim of the fair was to promote the development of local agriculture. The exhibit features classes on baking, woodworking, flower arranging, quit making, ornaments making, etc. These courses are conducted for all ages, and everyone has a great time in learning various things.

Around 90,000 to 100,000 people attend the Howard County fair each year and the community groups serve the fare of the fair. The fire department serves the funnel cake, and a high school booster group serves fried Oreos.

Every age group has something to do; Music performances and horse shows are some of the events which attract the kids at the fair. There is also a petting zoo at the exhibition, and it is a great attraction for both adults and children.

Montgomery County Agricultural Fair:

About 220,000 people attend this County fair, and it is enormous. More than 5000 animals like goats, horses, pigs, donkeys, poultry, sheep, and rabbit are exhibited at the county fair. There are so many food items that are sold at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. Some of the most popular food items are deep fried Mac and cheese, maple-bacon cinnamon rolls and Krispy Kreme burgers. There are plenty of shows for both kids and adults, and it takes place usually in August.

Prince William County Fair:

Prince William County Fair is Virginia’s largest county fair, and it was first started in the year 1949 by the veterans of the World War II. About 90,000 to 100,000 people attend the fair. Some of the favorite food sold there are Chesapeake Bay poutine and BBQ egg rolls. A show named the Jurassic Kingdom is one of the oldest activities in the Prince William County Fair, and it is a stage show about dinosaurs.

Arlington County Fair:

The Arlington County Fair has many exhibitions and games. Some of the favorite food items that were sold are doughnut holes, a peanut-butter-banana-and Nutella grilled sandwich, vegetarian curry tamales, etc. Exciting games like face painting and bounce houses grabbed the attention of the kids. There are also exhibitions of flower arrangements and photography.
